Everyone keeps telling me these are the best years of my life and I mostly feel lost and homesick. Classes are fine but I feel behind socially and I don't want to worry my parents. Does it get better or is something wrong with me?
Nothing is wrong with you — the 'best years' line is marketing, not reality. So many freshmen feel exactly this and hide it well. You're not behind.
The UNH counseling center has drop-in hours and it's free while you're a student. Went my first year and it made a huge difference. No big commitment needed to start.
