NH Employment Security & NHWorks job centers
NH Employment Security (NHES)runs the state's job centers, called NHWorks, with locations around the state. They're free and open to everyone — you don't have to be collecting unemployment to use them.
What a NHWorks center offers, at no cost:
- • Help searching and applying for jobs, in person
- • Resume and cover-letter help, and computers and internet to use
- • Access to the NH Job Match System (the state job bank)
- • Workshops on interviewing, job searching, and more
- • Referrals to training funds and other programs you may qualify for

Filing for unemployment
If you've lost a job through no fault of your own, you may qualify for unemployment benefits — temporary weekly payments while you look for work. In NH you file through NH Employment Security, and you generally must be able and available to work and actively searching.

Vocational Rehabilitation (if you have a disability)
If a physical or mental health condition makes it harder to get or keep a job, NH's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program can help — with career counseling, training, help with accommodations, and support finding and keeping work. A mental health condition can absolutely qualify. Services are free to eligible Granite Staters.

You don't always need a four-year degree — NH has short, practical programs that lead to real jobs, and much of it is free or funded:

NH's Community Action agencies serve every county with a wide range of help — some run job-readiness and support programs, and all of them can connect you to food, fuel assistance, transportation, and child care that make holding a job possible.
