I need food
Need food today?
Call 211 (free, 24/7) or search the NH Food Bank pantry map. Most pantries are free and don't require ID or proof of income — you can just show up during their hours.
What you can do right now
Food today, plus help for every week after.
- 1
Find a food pantry near you
Use the NH Food Bank food map or call 211. You'll see pantries, soup kitchens, and mobile food sites with their hours. Go during open hours — most don't need an appointment or ID.
- 2
Apply for SNAP (food stamps) for ongoing help
SNAP puts money on a card each month for groceries. Apply online at nheasy.nh.gov or by phone at 1-844-275-3447. A short phone interview is required — answer when they call so your case isn't delayed.
- 3
If you're pregnant or have young kids, add WIC
WIC gives healthy food and support for pregnant/postpartum women and children under 5. Start at signupWIC.com or call 1-800-942-4321. If you already have SNAP or Medicaid, you likely qualify.
- 4
Ask the school about free meals
If you have school-age kids, ask the office about free or reduced-price meals — one application per household, and SNAP/TANF families often qualify automatically.
How a case manager can help
If you're helping a client meet this need.
- Look up the nearest open pantry and mobile distributions on the NH Food Bank map, and arrange transportation or a delivery if the client can't travel.
- Start the SNAP application together on NH EASY, or complete a paper application; confirm the client's mailing address so notices arrive.
- Prep the client for the required SNAP interview — what they'll be asked and when to expect the call — and set a reminder to follow up.
- Gather proofs (income, ID) and, if the client has none, use the document workarounds; screen for WIC and school-meal eligibility at the same time.
- If a prior SNAP case was denied or closed, help request a fair hearing or connect the client to 603 Legal Aid.
